Whale Watcher House

South of St. John's by just 40 minutes, on the edge (and we do mean on the edge) of the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, sits the Whale Watcher House. From your own deck...you could enjoy migrating whales feeding in the rich ocean waters; cathedral-like icebergs grounding on the islands just offshore; and always, the perennial songs of the kittiwakes, puffins, seagulls, and gannets.

Step out the door and start hiking on the East Coast Trail. Other amenities such as Boat Tours, Kayaking, Dinner Theatre and Art Gallery are located within minutes.

The Whale Watcher House offers travelers 3 self-catering options: a one bedroom apartment - with a sofa bed in living room, and with the option of adding a full second bedroom and second bathroom; a one bedroom apartment with double sofa bed which sleeps 4 - with two bathrooms; and a studio with kitchen amenities.

Located on the Irish Loop - "up the shore" from the capital city of St. John's - the Whale Watcher House and Apartments offers access to the best whale watching on the Atlantic coast. At the same time - it is less than an hour from Ferryland and tits renowned archeological digs and Interpretation Centre. Or continue on to Mistaken Point -
our newest UNESCO Site - and view the oldest fossils on the planet.... or kayak in Cape Broyle...or hike to LaManche - the community with its pretty swinging bridge, which was wiped out by a tidal wave in the early 1960s.

This charming perch on the ocean has been thoughtfully finished to offer ocean views, whale watching, iceberg tracking, and access to hiking the East Coast Trails...while at the same time offering seclusion in a meticulously restored environment.

The Puffin apartment has 1 bedroom and a full bathroom - and the option of adding a second bedroom with full bathroom. This unit has a magnificent deck with ocean views - on the ocean - a full kitchen with all major appliances, an additional sofa bed in the living room, and is ready to go. Discuss your needs for the second bedroom with us.

The Loon apartment is a one bedroom apartment which has a queen sized bedroom with a full bathroom, and a double pull out in the living room. This unit comes with two full bathrooms. The deck, with its jaw-dropping views, is off the living room area. The kitchen is a half kitchen - with refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, etc.

The Gannet Studio is a one bedroom studio with half kitchen amenities, and of course, a private washroom. This past winter we added a deck to this unit...with partial views of the ocean.

The exterior and common areas of the property offer loads of parking, ocean-view seating, a clothes line for that freshly dried feeling...access to a vegetable garden (don't get too excited - I am pretty new to this) and views that are second to none on the Avalon. Depending on what is in season...the whales, the icebergs and the abundant bird life all speak for themselves ... and they are spectacular.
